I did this Gingerbread house for the same Christmas buffet events as the Croquembouche. It was pretty much done to scale and I included an inset of the actual Chateau. I did get better as the years went on and added some wisps of cotton ball smoke from the chimneys, etc. They all had clear poured sugar windows and an interior string of white lights. (Like the Croq, this was ten years ago!)

A baked custard flavored with Caramelized Orange zest. (Similar to the method used for Chinese dishes like Orange flavored Beef) 

This is sitting on a Vanilla and hint of clove Génoise circle.

Evaporated Clementine juice is the base for the squiggly stuff.

Grande Marnier macedoine of baby fig and fresh currants.

Garnish of a two-tone tuile. A bonus of absolutely nothing if you recognize the emblem.   ;) yuk, yuk...
