||I was an analyst in the US Air Force for seven years before choosing to change career fields. I am now pursuing a career as a chef, and enjoying it greatly. I apprenticed under a chef for the last 2 1/2 years of my enlistment, learning the basics of my newly chosen path whenever I wasn't working for the military. A little over a year after my enlistment ended I find myself continuing to learn more every day, and enjoying what I'm doing more and more.
I have been a civilian again for just over a year now and while it's taken a bit to adjust to the civilian way of things again, I am finding myself quite happy. While I enjoyed much of the job and the military lifestyle, I determined that I did not feel the passion and drive to make a career out of it. I left the USAF at the end of my enlistment in Oct of 2011 and have been seeking to further my culinary career since then. There are days I miss the discipline, order, structure, etc of the military life, but overall I believe I am happier now. I continue to meet new and interesting people every day, learn more about my new career field, and improve on skills that will help me the rest of my life.
