wanted to pick peoples' brains about ideas for alternative eccles tarts fillings, other than sultanas currants or raisins. this would probably also warrant rethinking the spice mixture as well, depending on the filling?

leaning toward dried cherries for my first attempt, but open to any other dried fruit ideas

I can't stand regular dark raisins but I like golden raisins! If you are using cinnamon, and cloves they will work well with dates, apricots and the golden raisins if you use them. You might even want to use dried cranberries (craisins) and blueberries but I would use cinnamon and mace with those last two. I like mace (and nutmeg) with blueberries - it's a little bit softer spice-wise.
