Hi all! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm not much of a cook, but since I've started my 9 month old daughter on solids, I've found there's so much I want to know. I cook all of her meals (and usually my own ), but am sometimes not sure what I'm doing, LOL! BTW, I really like the look and feel of this forum.

Well, I have no real specialty unless baby food counts. I'll try my hand at anything, but I'm no culinary wizard. I'm an American living in Germany so if I want to make anything typically American - pancakes, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, tater tots - I have to make them from scratch. I only run into trouble if a certain ingredient isn't available here like brown sugar. Fortunately I found an English specialty shop that sells it, but I'll be hurting if they ever close! Germans have brown sugar, but it's not the same. It's like normal white sugar just brown (not refined?).

You call replace 1 cup brown sugar by:



1 cup raw sugar
7/8 cup white sugar plus 1/4 cup molasses, maple syrup, dark corn syrup or honey.
