Anybody know anything about these?
A NY Times writer wrote about how Alain Ducasse originally had them at his joint, but the customers couldn't figure out how to use 'em so he had 'em shipped back to France.

Nothing came up using google.

He can't be referring to fancy asparagus tongs, was he?

yup, you got it. I think I've seen them at Bridge Kitchenware in NYC (along with such exotica as leg-of-lamb holders). Ducasse's were probably solid silver.
