Seasonal Kitchen Crew Member: Cook

Estimated dates are from May 1st through mid-October.

Position is 40 hours a week and majority of staff choose to live on the land (a benefit of the job).

Job Duties:

 Work under the direction of the Kitchen Manager

 Collaborate with Kitchen Manager on inventory & menu planning

 Be fully responsible for the cooking of assigned meals which may include events

 Lead a kitchen staff, mainly volunteers (some skilled, some not) assisting with cooking,

prep and clean up.


The ideal candidate must possess the ability, creativity, and detail-orientation to produce balanced, high quality and

flavorful menus for lunches and dinners and to work together with a team towards that vision. Primarily vegetarian food is served except for during special events.

Knowledge of how to alter menu items to accomodate gluten free, dairy free, vegan or specific food allergies is required.

During retreats our numbers range from 50 to 250 participants

depending on registration. Retreats may last for one day, a couple of days or up to a few weeks. This position is for 40 hours per week.

It is helpful to have a genuine interest in Buddhist philosophy and working together in a team.

Opportunity for attending further Buddhist teachings/programs are an additional perk of this position.
