I'm sure the answer is obvious, but I couldn't find anything on search... is it still considered dangerous (salmonella, etc.) to consume raw egg, i.e. in eggnog?

And if there is a bug in the egg, wouldn't the brandy kill it? Please advise.

I have read that wine kills certain types of bacteria, including very small amounts of salmonella, but the same does not apply to other alcohol, as far as I know. Also, if an egg is laden with salmonella, no amount of alcohol will kill it. How about heating your eggs over a water bath, with some sugar?
