My griddle thermostat adjusting skrew just spins, did I strip it?

When I turn Griddle knob on: Flames shoot out up and down the burner in a wierd fashion!! Like its possessed. Kinda scary.

Someone help me fix this before tomorrow morning! Rush!!

I'm guessing you're going to have to replace the whole valve.
