How long until garlic loses flavor

We've started using a lot of garlic lately and I'd like to save some prep time if possible. I wont use the pre-minced garlic that is available in jars because it has very little flavor. The restaurant supply sells "fresh" separated, peeled garlic cloves in jars. Since this garlic isn't chopped, does it still have it's full potency and flavor or does it lose flavor like the minced junk?

Unfortunately a lot if the whole garlic in our markets today are from China. Which is a real shame since agilely really isn't that far away.
