This is a very very broad question, I know but I'm interested in learning how to approach creating a cake recipe of my own from scratch. Is there a thread here that teaches on this topic? I am familiar with baker's percentage and all but I want to learn how cake recipes are even created. Where does one start? How do you know how much of what to use based on pan size and number of layers desired?

If there's nothing like that here could someone direct me to where I may be able to learn this information?
