Jar of peppers I don't love

292 Views 6 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  teamfat
I ADORE jarred Brazilian Malagueta peppers. I bought a jar of what was advertised as such -- but turned out to be sort of a medium-hot red pepper puree in vinegar. It's OK, I don't hate it, but it's not ever really something I would turn to for anything. Frankly, I can't figure out what to do with it. Anyone got any ideas? You've got a jar of decent-tasting, rather vinegary hot pepper puree, and it has no immediate application. What then?

Save it until the fruits in June ripen, then make a fruit chutney.

Fry onions & garlic, maybe some ginger as well. Add your chili mix. Cook through.
Taste.
Then decide to use as a mildish sauce to the side (after blending)
Or add tomatoes for a spicy pasta sauce

A picture of the jar and the contents might be appropriate.
