What are the best practices for cleaning and maintaining a knife to ensure its longevity and optimal performance, and are there any specific cleaning techniques or materials to avoid? 🙏

Don’t put them in the dishwasher. Hand wash them.

Wash immediately after use with mild soap and soft sponge. Fold the sponge over the spine, never rub anything against the edge. Dry immediately with a towel, again careful with the edge. The best place to store a knife is on a wooden magnetic rack, so that the edge does not touch or hit against anything.
I prefer a rack that keeps the edges up and has dowels so knives can't fall. I've seen too many knives fall off a magnet.

That is definitely a good option. And you are right, I should have added that if you buy a magnetic rack you should do some research on the quality and not buy anything cheap. A good quality rack will keep your toes intact.
