I got a new computer and my old, old copy of Micro Cookbook 5.0 became orphaned; the new Dell wouldn't load it. Peeved and desperate, I ordered Living Cookbook, and recently received my copy.

I have to say it's pretty good. It has lots of ingredients, both common and unusual to North America (fruits from the Caribbean and S. America, etc.---what's a rambutan?? :p ), ability to load photos, do nutritional analyses, add ingredients, etc...... It's pretty easy to use, too.

Do any of you have any experience with this software?

Wow. I didn't expect a two and a half years later. Thanks for coming by, Aaron!

By the way, I've had a couple of upgrades on the Living Cookbook. It does the job for me.

Pete, I'm not familiar with Mastercook, so it'd be hard for me to compare. Here's what I like about it:

1. You can do complete nutritional analyses on your recipes; they have a good database of ingredients, and it's possible to add more.
2. I can easily print a copy or e-mail it if I want to.
3. I can insert photos into recipes.
4. I can add notes and edit anything about the recipe easily.
5. I can get upgrades very cheap (about $2.95). The company contacts me whenever they have an upgrade.
6. I can get help from the company via e-mail or on their bulletin board. The one time I needed help, I got an answer in a few hours.
6. If I wanted to, I could participate in a bulletin board discussion group. But I prefer this one. :D

There might be more, but while I was still working I confess I didn't have much time to spend with it. Now that I'm retired, I may discover more about it that I like. I will continue using this program and buy the upgrades as they become available.

Haven't looked at Living Cookbook in years, too satisfied with MasterCook. Especially now that Cosmi has bought out Valusoft and is planning upgrades.

Take a look at Mastercook, it is only $20 or less... I think you will be VERY happy.

I've used Mastercook since 2000
