I'd like to make some chewy molasses cookies for Christmas...anyone have a favorite recipe they'd like to share as I've never made these before. I've found a few on line I can try but would love to try out someone's tried and true version if they wanted to share!
My grandmas' molasses cookies - the best! Crispy, chewy, yummy!
Molasses Crinkles
3/4 cup shortening 1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp. cloves
1 egg 1 tsp. dry ginger
1/4 cup molasses 2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups flour
Preheat oven to 375; line cookie sheets with parchment. Cream together shortening, brown sugar, egg, molasses; mix in dry ingredients. Chill 2 hours. Roll dough into 1 inch balls, and dip the tops into granulated sugar. Place sugared side up on cookie sheet. With an eye dropper, drop 1 drop of water on top of each cookie. Bake 10-12 minutes - tops should feel a little soft when you take them out.
