Is there an industry standard for payments from non-profits for an catered event ? Further, is it customary to collect some sort of deposit up from from a non-profit? I am being told it is a industry standard for non-profits to issue payment is 30 days after the event. Is this correct?

Some businesses I've contracted for are 90 days. They weren't non profits and I wasn't catering

It depends on the non-profit....some not only a deposit but payment in full before the meal.

Some non-profit are broke. Or have champagne tastes when having a kool-aid budget.

Don't get sucked into working for free.

We do quite a bit with not-for-profit organizations. We have provided NET 15 day terms as a business customer, and don't expect a deposit. One point, don't expect a gratuity, it's not the practice of a not-for-profit to include one. I have a standard administrative fee but it's nothing near a gratuity.
