Is there such a thing as a quiet induction stove? I'm talking about a plug-in kind.

I like quiet when I can get it. I also like all the sounds of cooking. Except for this induction cooktop I have. It makes weird high-pitched noises and has a fan going for awhile afterwards.

is there a quiet one I can get? I'm talking about a plug-in one, not a whole stove and oven.

From my experience, there certainly are quiet induction stoves out there. My suggestion would be to look for one with a low noise rating. That way, you can get a quieter cooktop without sacrificing cooking performance. Good luck on your search and let us know how it goes!

I have a stand alone induction burner and it makes very little noise. Off the top of my head I can't recall the brand but I will check when I get home.

OK, it is a Vollrath Mirage Pro. Really nice unit but it wasn't cheap.

All I can tell you is DON'T get a Burton unless you can try it first. We have one, and it's not at all what you'd call "quiet."
