shapton glass & whetstone sharpening?

645 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  millionsknives
Hello again! I just got my set of Shapton Glass stones, I read that these stones take off a lot more metal then then the regular whetstones, so, should I sharpen my knife differently then when I sharpen on the other whetstones? Like say lighter strokes and less strokes? I am hoping someone has these stones and can tell me if there is anything different that I should do.

It might cut faster, but if it takes off more metal, it's because the user is not paying attention.

Whether it is with your fingers or a magnifying glass, you need to figure out how to detect the burr

sharpening :  create a burr, flip it to the other side, remove it
