A line in another thread:

"Now I'm hungry for pizza... thinking some TURKEY will be included in the "garbage"?!?"

I had two late afternoon pickups, and the last passenger and I were talking about Thanksgiving, food, leftovers and such. I posted the unanswerable question "How many perfectly good turkey carcasses were sitting in the garbage cans on Friday morning?"

What a shame.

A long long time ago, we used to have Thankgsgiving at my wife's parents' house.  She would always give us the carcass to take home because none of her other sisters would do anything with it.  We always used it.  It fed us for days!

RIGHT?!

How many dishes would a goodly sized carcass get ya?

I NEVER throw away perfectly good bones and I also have NO SHAME

in asking for it when we go to someone else's home and I know

darn well that they're not going to do something with it.

Wouldn't that be a great charitable contribution to a 'soup kitchen',

your spent Turkey or even Ham after a holiday?

@teamfat I'd give you mine for your "Fill The Pot"

As much as I like turkey (usually have it for lunch), by Saturday, I'm tired of looking at the big bird and repurposed it in other ways - tetrazinni, sandwiches, reheating the main meal, etc.) I prefer chicken soup to turkey, as it can be a little gamey for me.

Leftover once for me too, but sandwiches is another thing altogether.  Turkey & stuffing on white bread with a schmear of cranberry sauce and some fresh Coleman's mustard - that's what I'm talkin' about.
