Hey guys, just wondering if anyone can give me some advice? I was employed as head chef for a new cafe in Australia, I set up and opened the kitchen along with creating the menu. After a few 16 hr days I ended up sleeping through my alarm and due to this was fired. That's another issue in itself. What I want to know is can they run my menu or not?

It's called work for hire. They own the menu, not you.

Cool thanks, I thought that was the case. I'd just had a few people telling me otherwise. Does it make a difference that I wasn't paid to create the menu and my pay only started as of the day I actually started cooking?
Only if it was spelled out as such in your contract, at least that's the most likely interpretation of events it seems.
