I'm definitely a noob at cooking, but I've decided to try my hand at it all. However, I want to buy everything I cook so I know what's going into it. One thing that I'm having trouble with is buying the meat. I am currently living in China, so when I go to the butcher, outside of inquiring as to the type of meat being sold (which is usually fairly easy to discover without asking), I can't really say "is this a tenderloin"? I have little experience with selecting cuts, , and I know they are fairly important, so does anyone have a suggested connection to a link that has pictures so I can study them and recognize them next time I go in, or could you just post some pics yourself?

You tell the butcher how you are cooking it and he'll tell you the cut.

Nan, BTW, that picture of you on the ship grilling, that's fantastic! It says fun! :)

I don't know have the answer but just wanted to remind you that some countries/cultures cut their meat differently and not all of the cuts that we are used to seeing are there. I used to cook in France and it was bit frustrating until I figured this out.

Even between countries in the UK, eg England and Scotland, the names are different for similar cuts of meat;)
