Not only less useful but less interesting to participate in. To put it another way, this is killing the site. That means less ad revenue for whoever gets that from the site. I mention that point because clearly they don't care about the experience quality, but maybe they care about the bottom line? Here's hoping.
I said as much. I predicted this.

Yep. Kinda sad.
Perhaps if more people messaged the moderators voicing their displeasure it might change things. My one lone voice apparently wasn’t enough.

The "community at large" is all but gone now, for a variety of reasons...

In my mind, it has little to do with moderator response to AI or grumpy humans.
What in your opinion are contributing factors? One reason I can think of is how COVID turned our industry pretty much upside down. I know a lot of us have left the industry since then.

slowed down to nearly a crawl
my observation is many/most/all the "forum formats" except for places that foster """political""" (mudslinging&namecalling....)
have near evaporated.
seems a lot of people now use smart phones for web access. which is - at least to me - so painful vs. 'real computer' - as to be essentially too much trouble to participate.

There's kind of a generational gap in that regard. As an older person, I do prefer typing out long replies or posts on my desktop. But I have no issue using my phone to do the same thing. A long of younger people are the opposite and do everything on their phones and one of the reasons for that is economics; not everyone can afford both a phone and a computer. My 35 year old stepson and many of his friends type so fast on their phones it makes my head spin. So I'm not sure I agree with you here.

But I do agree that the TikToks and the Blueskies and the Instagrams and the Facebooks definitely eat into this type of format and it may be dying. However, this type of format is still the best for starting a topic and following it all the way through.

indeed, I've observed 'thumbers' operating at a blinding pace . . .

". . . this type of format is still the best for starting a topic and following it all the way through. "
but they don't know that . . .

Hello Everyone …

I just popped in. I’m here today. Just saying hello.
