I plan to buy a single burner, butan/propane/... , portable stove. I plan to use it mostly to sear a fish outside (not big fan of fish smell inside the house), outdoor when camping, and indoor for Tagine.
I saw couple on Amazon, like these Gas ONE Propane or Butane Portable Stove but not sure what would be the minimum BTU? I'm assuming that for tagine 7000 BTU is enough. What about some other cooking?

Please, educate me. :)

I've used these for demo Wok cooking on buffet lines. You may also think about using a cast-iron pan on a BBQ grill with a bit of oil to sear. In fact once you sear the flesh and turn to the skin side you can just continue to cook it in the pan. I think most all portable burners will work because the flame is hitting the bottom of the pan.

Maybe consider an electric plancha too? A friend of mine has one and it's great for searing burgers outside. I like the fact that I don't even need a pan, and the large cooking surface.

I have induction one, and I'm really happy with it. I use it most of the time, much more than glass top what I have - my wife decided, before cooking-mania hit me :D And I agreed because it's much easier to clean than electric stove we had before. And she's afraid of gas stove, go figure... Digrassing...
Anyway, the main reason I'm buying the propane/butane portable stove is camping, and tagine I like to cook. Right now I put my tagine on the cast iron pancake, sallow pan. It works ok on the glass top but it's really hard to control the cast iron. So I bought diffuser for (future) gas stove. :D

I have charcoal grill and fire up whole grill just for two pieces of fish? Uhm... I'm to lazy for that. :D
But thank you for the info about the burners.
